Ratings and Reviews

An OK alternative to Google Photos

I understand that nobody tin beat Google's AI but the UX of the app is not that great either.
As a backup service information technology's plenty, only no nighttime mode, no backup only while charging, adding tags and manually tagging faces is cumbersome inside the app. I would also similar an pick to delete the photo from local storage if deleted within the synology app! Very cumbersome to think delete a photo in two places… make it work like Google photos!
I bought a NAS for photo and video backup! I would beloved to recommend more than folks to get a synology, but information technology's difficult when even a tech savvy person like me finds information technology hard to use.

Hullo prediscover, Thanks for the valuable feedback and characteristic asking. The mentioned feature is i of the possible enhancements in future updates. We'll forrard information technology to development teams and discuss it further internally.

Good alternative to Google Photos

Synology Photos is a skilful culling to Google Photos, even though the search capabilities aren't virtually every bit robust. For instance, you can't search "camping" and expect to get results with pictures of camping. I can live with that though since the reason Google Photos can practice that is because they constantly browse your and everyone else's photos with their automobile learning, and I've become increasingly uncomfortable with giving them that much information into my personal life.

One annoying thing about Synology Photos is that I take a fairly big photo collection (> 1.ii TB) and when I open up the app information technology says "Loading…" for a adept 5 seconds or and so even on my domicile network. I'm guessing information technology's getting the data on all the photos I have bachelor on my NAS. But why does information technology have to do this earlier displaying any photos in the app? Information technology should cache the data it previously retrieved and then the UI is usable immediately and call back any updated data in a groundwork thread and if in that location's new content and so refresh the view. Having to sit waiting for the "Loading…" to finish when starting the app is a bit annoying.

Getting improve

When I first transitioned from Ds photos, I was very disappointed with all of the missing feature like assigning permissions to albums, non to mention the complete lack of a Apple TV app replacement. Over time i've gotten used to and grown to enjoy setting pic conditions for albums.
Information technology's better than Google Photos past a very small margin and better than nearly locally hosted album apps.

It still has a long way to go to get upwards to speed with the rest of Synology branded apps, it most seems like information technology doesn't vest!
